Version History

v3.0.0Mar 4, 2026 - Version note by skill developer:

geo-content-optimizer v3.0.0 - Major upgrade with new GEO optimization workflow and techniques reference. - Expanded support and description for Gemini and Perplexity AI citation targeting. - Adds step-by-step checklist for CORE-EEAT GEO-First optimization items (C02, C09, O03, R01–R05, E01). - Improved instruction flow: separate analysis, scoring, and actionable optimization steps. - New techniques reference: references/geo-optimization-techniques.md added.

What This Skill Does

Optimizes content to increase how often AI systems cite it in responses. Adds quotable statements, structured Q&A, data-backed statistics, expert attribution, and FAQ schema markup. Produces a GEO score, rewritten content sections, and a citation-optimization checklist.

Targets AI citation mechanics directly rather than traditional SEO signals, which do not translate reliably to generative engine visibility.

When to use it

  • Rewriting a blog post so Perplexity AI cites it instead of competitors
  • Adding FAQ schema to a product page targeting Google AI Overviews
  • Auditing an article's GEO readiness before publishing
  • Diagnosing why a brand does not appear in ChatGPT answers
  • Structuring a landing page for AI citation alongside traditional SEO

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

INPUT

User asks: 'Optimize this paragraph for GEO: Email marketing is a good way to reach customers. It's been around for a while and many businesses use it.'

AGENT
  1. 1Assess current content against GEO factors and assign a baseline score
  2. 2Identify gaps: missing definitions, unverified claims, no source citations, unstructured format
  3. 3Rewrite content with a precise definition, sourced statistics, and numbered list structure
  4. 4Add quotable statements with expert attributions
  5. 5Produce before/after GEO score table and CORE-EEAT compliance checklist
OUTPUT

GEO-optimized paragraph with definition, two sourced statistics, structured list, and GEO score raised from 1/10 to 8/10
