Setup & Installation
Or with the ClawHub CLI, for registry-managed skill folders outside a full OpenClaw workspace:
What This Skill Does
Ansible automates infrastructure tasks across multiple servers using declarative YAML playbooks. Covers server provisioning, configuration management, application deployment, and security hardening. Includes pre-built roles for OpenClaw VPS setup, SSH hardening, firewall configuration, and Node.js installation.
Manages entire server fleets from a single command with no agents required on remote hosts, making it simpler to operate than Chef or Puppet.
When to use it
- Provisioning a new VPS with SSH key auth and firewall rules
- Rolling Node.js app updates across a server fleet one host at a time
- Applying SSH hardening and fail2ban to production servers
- Running ad-hoc commands across multiple hosts simultaneously
- Encrypting server credentials with Ansible Vault
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: Set up a new VPS with OpenClaw and security hardening
- 1Add host entry to inventory/hosts.yml with IP address and initial root credentials
- 2Run openclaw-vps.yml playbook with --limit targeting the new server
- 3Common role updates system packages, installs essentials, and creates deploy user with SSH key
- 4Security role disables root login, enables fail2ban, and configures UFW firewall ports
- 5Node.js and OpenClaw roles install the runtime and register OpenClaw as a systemd service
VPS fully configured with OpenClaw running as a systemd service, root login disabled, and firewall active on ports 22, 80, and 443
