Version History

v1.0.1Feb 18, 2026 - Version note by skill developer:

- Added installation instructions for setting up a Python virtual environment and installing dependencies before first use. - Clarified that the agent should verify the presence of the `venv` directory and run the setup command if it does not exist. - No functional changes to commands or arguments.

What This Skill Does

Controls Wiz smart bulbs on a local WiFi network by communicating with them directly via IP address. Supports on/off toggling, RGB color changes, and a disco mode with configurable duration. Uses the pywizlight Python library with no cloud dependency or account required.

Communicates directly over the local network, so it works without a Wiz account, cloud service, or third-party hub.

When to use it

  • Turn off bedroom lights without leaving the desk
  • Set the light to red during a movie for ambiance
  • Run a disco light show during a party for 60 seconds
  • Change light color to blue to signal focus or work time
  • Toggle lights on or off as part of a scheduled routine

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

INPUT

User asks: Turn on disco mode for 30 seconds

AGENT
  1. 1Identifies the Wiz bulb's local IP address on the network
  2. 2Verifies the Python virtual environment exists, creating it if needed
  3. 3Runs wiz.py with --action disco and --duration 30 targeting the bulb IP
  4. 4Confirms the command executed successfully
OUTPUT

Wiz bulb enters disco mode with cycling colors for 30 seconds
