What This Skill Does

Exa MCP integration that exposes web search, content crawling, company research, people lookup, and deep research through a set of CLI wrappers. Results include extracted page text, not just links. Requires an Exa API key and runs via the OpenClaw MCP gateway.

Exa returns clean page content alongside URLs, so agents can read results directly without a separate crawl step.

When to use it

  • Pulling full text from a documentation site at a known URL
  • Researching a company before a meeting or due diligence call
  • Finding working code examples for an unfamiliar library
  • Looking up a person's professional background and recent public activity
  • Generating a sourced research report on a technical or industry topic

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

INPUT

User asks: Write a detailed report on the current state of AI agents in 2026

AGENT
  1. 1Call deep_researcher_start with the query and a max source count, capture the returned taskId
  2. 2Poll deep_researcher_check with the taskId every few seconds until status is complete
  3. 3Parse the completed result field for the full report text and source list
  4. 4Return the report to the user with sources cited
OUTPUT

A multi-section written report on AI agent development compiled from up to 20 web sources, with URLs cited
