What This Skill Does
Generates summaries of chat histories by calling an external summary API. Accepts a list of messages in JSON format and returns a concise overview. Supports incremental updates by passing a previous summary as context.
Incremental summary support means you can update an existing summary rather than reprocessing the entire conversation each time.
When to use it
- Recap a long support chat before escalating to a human agent
- Catch up on a conversation thread you left mid-way
- Archive a key points summary after a project planning session
- Summarize a multi-turn research session into a short brief
- Generate a running summary as a conversation grows longer
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: 'Give me a summary of our conversation'
- 1Collect the full chat history and format it as a JSON array with role and content fields
- 2Check if a previous summary exists to pass as historySummary for incremental mode
- 3POST the payload to the summary API endpoint
- 4Parse the response and verify code is 0
- 5Return data.summary to the user
A short paragraph summarizing the key topics and decisions from the conversation
