Version History
Improved SKILL.md prompt design: clearer command usage, stricter scheduling guardrails (run before resolving relative times), stronger anti-ambiguity/safety rules, and expanded examples for self-contained future instructions. No runtime code changes.
What This Skill Does
Schedules one-off delayed actions using the OS native scheduler (at on Linux/macOS, schtasks on Windows). The agent wakes at an exact future timestamp with full context injected, ready to execute a workflow, check a system, or send a notification. Timezone correction ensures tasks fire at the user's local time, not the server clock.
Unlike simple reminders, every scheduled instruction is written as a fully self-contained prompt, so the future agent session needs no memory of the original conversation to act correctly.
When to use it
- Remind yourself to review open PRs before an end-of-day deployment freeze
- Schedule a server health check 2 hours after pushing a release
- Send a Slack message to a teammate when a task window opens
- Trigger a GitHub PR audit at the start of the next business day
- Set a follow-up notification after a client call to send meeting notes
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: 'Remind me tomorrow at 5pm to check pending PRs on the backend-api repo'
- 1Run the `now` command to get the current time in the user's timezone
- 2Calculate the absolute timestamp for tomorrow at 17:00 from the `now` output
- 3Ask for clarification on which repo, which module, and what action to take
- 4Schedule with a fully self-contained instruction including repo name, reviewer contact, and expected action
- 5Confirm with a formatted block showing the exact date, time, and the stored instruction
Task scheduled for 2026-02-27 17:00 CST with a complete instruction to check backend-api GitHub PRs and notify the reviewer before the deployment freeze
