Version History

v1.1.0Feb 16, 2026 - Version note by skill developer:

Add metadata.openclaw (requires curl/jq, os filter). Declare credential file writes and network behavior in description. Improve dependency transparency for security scanners.

What This Skill Does

Monitors and manages Dell PowerEdge servers through the iDRAC Redfish API. Supports hardware health checks, power operations, event logs, and full inventory queries. Works with iDRAC 8 and 9 across 13th-gen PowerEdge servers and newer.

Wraps the verbose Redfish API into a single script with credential management built in, removing the need to manually construct curl commands or handle session tokens.

When to use it

  • Check CPU and memory health before a production deployment
  • Pull system event logs after an unexpected server reboot
  • Gracefully shut down a remote server before scheduled maintenance
  • Get RAID and disk status across multiple storage controllers
  • Verify firmware versions during an upgrade planning session

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

INPUT

User asks: what is the current health status of my server?

AGENT
  1. 1Load iDRAC IP and credential source from ~/.config/idrac-skill/config
  2. 2Hydrate credentials from file, env, or 1Password as configured
  3. 3Call idrac.sh health via the Redfish API using curl with Basic Auth
  4. 4Parse JSON response with jq to extract temperatures, fan status, and power supply health
  5. 5Confirm no destructive operation is needed and surface findings in plain language
OUTPUT

A summary of thermal readings, fan speeds, and any degraded or failed components on the server
