What This Skill Does

calmly is a CLI tool for managing macOS Calendar events using EventKit directly. It creates, lists, and views all-day, multi-day, and timed events across iCloud, local, and CalDAV calendars without triggering UI dialogs or AppleScript.

Unlike icalBuddy (read-only) or AppleScript (prone to hanging on permission dialogs), calmly writes events silently via EventKit after a single one-time permissions grant.

When to use it

  • Batch-creating recurring sports practice events for a kids schedule
  • Adding work meetings to iCloud calendar from a terminal script
  • Listing upcoming events on a specific calendar without opening Calendar.app
  • Creating multi-day vacation blocks from a shell script
  • Automating event creation in CI or personal automation workflows

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

INPUT

User asks: add a timed team meeting to my Work calendar on March 20 from 2pm to 3pm

AGENT
  1. 1Run `calmly list` to confirm the target calendar name
  2. 2Construct the addtimed command with the verified calendar name and date
  3. 3Run `calmly addtimed Work "Team Meeting" 2025-03-20 14:00 15:00`
  4. 4Run `calmly events Work 7` to confirm the event appears in the next 7 days
OUTPUT

Event "Team Meeting" created on 2025-03-20 from 14:00 to 15:00 on the Work calendar, synced to iCloud
