Or with the ClawHub CLI, for registry-managed skill folders outside a full OpenClaw workspace:
What This Skill Does
Reads and extracts data from X/Twitter tweet URLs using the FxTwitter API, with Nitter as a fallback. Returns structured JSON with tweet text, author info, engagement stats, media URLs, and quoted tweet content. Also supports unrolling full self-reply threads.
FxTwitter requires no API key or authentication, making it usable without account setup unlike the official X API.
When to use it
- Reading a tweet URL shared in chat without opening a browser
- Extracting engagement stats from a competitor's viral post
- Unrolling a long Twitter thread into readable chronological order
- Pulling media URLs from a tweet for further processing
- Checking quote tweet context on a referenced post
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: What does this tweet say? https://x.com/elonmusk/status/123456789
- 1Validate the URL matches x.com or twitter.com status format
- 2Call scripts/read_tweet.sh with the provided URL
- 3Parse the returned JSON for text, author, timestamp, and engagement fields
- 4Fall back to scripts/read_tweet_nitter.sh if the primary request fails
- 5Format the extracted data into a readable markdown summary
Tweet text, author handle, post timestamp, likes/retweets/replies counts, and any attached media URLs
