What This Skill Does

Checks surf forecasts at configurable spots and filters results by wave height and rating thresholds that vary by how far out the forecast is. Outputs only conditions worth surfing, with tighter criteria for same-day checks and looser ones for planning ahead. Supports automated cron-based alerting with state tracking to avoid duplicate reports.

Applies day-specific confidence thresholds rather than raw forecast data, so you only get notified when conditions actually justify the drive to the beach.

When to use it

  • Getting a morning alert before deciding whether to paddle out
  • Planning a weekend surf session at a local New Jersey break
  • Running automated every-6-hour forecast checks via cron
  • Debugging why a specific forecast day did not qualify
  • Pulling structured JSON forecast data for use in other workflows

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
