What This Skill Does
Connects to a running Joplin desktop app via its local REST API to manage notes, notebooks, and tags programmatically. Supports creating, reading, updating, deleting, and searching notes through a Python script wrapper.
Lets agents interact with Joplin's full data model without leaving the terminal, avoiding manual UI navigation for repetitive note operations.
When to use it
- Automatically filing meeting notes into specific notebooks
- Searching notes for a keyword and extracting matching content
- Bulk-creating notes from structured data
- Listing all notes in a notebook for review
- Checking note statistics across the entire library

- 1Calls ping to verify Joplin is running and API is reachable
- 2Searches for the Work notebook by name to get its ID
- 3Calls create with the title and parent notebook ID
- 4Confirms the note was created by fetching its metadata
Note "Q1 Review" created in the Work notebook with the returned note ID
