What This Skill Does
Command-line tool for Munich public transport (MVG). Queries departures, plans routes, finds nearby stations, shows service alerts, and tracks S-Bahn trains in real time using the unofficial MVG API and geOps WebSocket feed. No authentication required for most features.
Gives terminal-based access to live Munich transit data without a browser or app, and supports JSON output for piping into other tools.
When to use it
- Check next U-Bahn departures from Marienplatz before leaving home
- Plan a route from a street address to the airport with least transfers
- Find which S-Bahn stations are within walking distance of current coordinates
- Get real-time S-Bahn positions for the S3 line during delays
- Pull service alerts for a specific station as JSON for scripting
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: When is the next S8 from Pasing to the airport?
- 1Search for Pasing station using mvg search
- 2Run mvg departures "Pasing" --type sbahn to see upcoming S-Bahn trains
- 3Run mvg route "Pasing" "Flughafen" to get full journey details with times
- 4Check --mode less-changes if user wants fewer transfers
- 5Return departure time, platform, and estimated arrival
Next S8 from Pasing departs at 14:23, arrives Flughafen München at 14:58, no changes required.
