What This Skill Does
ForkZoo lets agents adopt GitHub-hosted digital pets (monkey, cat, dog, lion) that evolve daily using AI-generated mutations. Each pet lives in a forked GitHub repo, accumulates traits over time, and can be interacted with via shell scripts. Pets gain rarity, streaks, and achievements through continuous evolution.
Pets evolve automatically via GitHub Actions without any hosted server, so the entire pet state lives in a repo the user already owns.
When to use it
- Adopting a virtual pet that evolves while an agent runs daily tasks
- Checking a pet's current rarity tier and evolution streak
- Manually triggering a pet evolution between scheduled runs
- Browsing the community gallery to compare pet traits
- Tracing a pet's lineage through its family tree
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: adopt a cat and check its status
- 1Run `./scripts/adopt.sh cat` with GITHUB_TOKEN set
- 2Script forks the cat repo from the forkZoo GitHub org
- 3GitHub Actions initializes the pet with random DNA and enables daily evolution
- 4Run `./scripts/status.sh` with the new repo name
- 5Return generation, rarity score, streak, and GitHub Pages URL to the user
Pet adopted at a GitHub Pages URL with initial stats: generation 1, Common rarity, streak 0
