What This Skill Does

Monitors AI-native tools and apps alongside GitHub repository momentum to surface where the ecosystem is accelerating. Pairs product news (funding rounds, launches, notable integrations) with repo signals (star velocity, trending status) to answer why something matters now and what its trajectory implies.

Connecting product news to repo metrics in one pass avoids manually cross-referencing news sites, GitHub Explore, and star-history tools separately.

When to use it

  • Catching which AI startups closed funding rounds this week
  • Finding GitHub repos spiking in stars after a major product launch
  • Comparing hype around a new AI coding tool against its actual contributor growth
  • Identifying an emerging AI category before it saturates tech news
  • Building a weekly briefing on AI tooling shifts for a dev team

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

INPUT

User asks: What AI tools and repos are gaining the most traction this week?

AGENT
  1. 1Search for recent AI tool news with concrete triggers: funding rounds, product launches, or major feature releases
  2. 2Query GitHub Explore and trending lists for repos showing rapid star growth or new contribution surges
  3. 3For each item, pair the news trigger with a metric such as funding amount, star velocity, or ecosystem mentions
  4. 4Evaluate whether traction matches hype, noting any contradictions
  5. 5Structure output into Tools & Apps and GitHub Radar sections, ending with a What to Watch flag
OUTPUT

Two-section report listing 3-5 AI tools with news hooks and 3-5 trending repos with star counts and growth context, plus one emerging pattern to revisit
