What This Skill Does

Monitors a living room ALPSTUGA air sensor via a Dirigera hub every 5 minutes. Triggers a continuous spoken alert on the Mac speaker when PM2.5 exceeds 250 µg/m³ or CO2 exceeds 2000 ppm. Keeps alerting until air quality returns to safe levels.

Unlike a passive database-logging skill, this one enters a continuous alert loop and only stops when the air actually clears, making it harder to miss a real danger event.

When to use it

  • Getting an audio alert when cooking causes smoke buildup
  • Detecting early signs of fire while asleep or in another room
  • Running as a cron job alongside a regular smoke alarm for redundancy
  • Checking current air quality status from the terminal
  • Reviewing logs after a false alarm to confirm sensor readings

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

INPUT

User asks: Is the living room air safe right now?

AGENT
  1. 1Runs smoke_detector.py manually from the terminal
  2. 2Script queries Dirigera hub at 192.168.1.100 for current PM2.5 and CO2 readings
  3. 3Compares values against thresholds (PM2.5 > 250 or CO2 > 2000)
  4. 4Writes result to detector_state.json with alert_active flag
  5. 5If safe, exits; if danger detected, begins playing audio alert every 5 seconds
OUTPUT

Terminal shows current readings and alert status; speaker plays warning if thresholds are exceeded
