What This Skill Does
Nag manages recurring reminders that repeat until the user confirms completion. Each reminder has a first-fire time, a configurable nag window, and resets automatically each day. Supports escalating urgency and natural-language confirmation matching.
Unlike one-shot reminders, it keeps firing at intervals until you explicitly confirm, so habitual tasks can't slip through a single ignored alert.
When to use it
- Remembering to take morning supplements every day
- Keeping a daily workout or practice habit on track
- Following up on tasks you keep skipping
- Nagging yourself to log meals or water intake
- Ensuring a recurring checklist item gets confirmed before end of day
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: Set up a daily reminder for morning supplements at 8am
- 1Adds an entry to nag-config.json with cronFirst '0 8 * * *', nagAfter '09:00', and confirmPatterns like 'taken' or 'done'
- 2Creates a cron job to send the initial message at 8am
- 3Adds a nag check block to HEARTBEAT.md to read state and send follow-up messages after 9am if unconfirmed
- 4Escalates message urgency after nagCount reaches 3
- 5When user replies 'took them', matches the phrase against confirmPatterns and writes confirmed: true to memory/nag-state.json
Reminder is marked confirmed for the day and no further nags fire until the next daily reset
