Version History

What This Skill Does
Fetches real-time stock quotes from Yahoo Finance for one or more ticker symbols. Returns price, absolute change, percent change, currency, and market state as normalized JSON.
Yahoo Finance's public quote endpoint requires no API key or account, so quotes are available immediately with no setup.
When to use it
- Check the current price of a stock before placing a trade
- Monitor multiple portfolio holdings in one request
- Verify whether a market is currently open or closed
- Compare intraday price changes across a watchlist
- Pull live quotes into a personal finance or budgeting script
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: /stock quote AAPL MSFT TSLA
- 1Parse the input into individual ticker symbols: AAPL, MSFT, TSLA
- 2Send a request to the Yahoo Finance quote API for all three symbols
- 3Parse the response and normalize each result into the standard schema
- 4Return a JSON array with price, change, changePercent, currency, and marketState for each symbol
[{"symbol":"AAPL","price":189.12,"change":1.23,"changePercent":0.65,"currency":"USD","marketState":"REGULAR"}, ...]
