Setup & Installation

openclaw skills install @oki3505f/remote-skill-engine

Or with the ClawHub CLI, for registry-managed skill folders outside a full OpenClaw workspace:

npx clawhub install remote-skill-engine

What This Skill Does

Discovers, caches, and uses skills from remote registries like ClawHub and GitHub without permanent installation. Cached skills are stored in ~/.openclaw/workspace/remote-skills-cache/ and symlinked so they trigger and behave identically to locally installed skills, including offline.

Skills are symlinked into the active skills folder, so cached remote skills trigger and behave exactly like installed ones without any permanent setup.

When to use it

  • Trying out a ClawHub skill before committing to installing it
  • Running a skill offline after caching it on a previous connection
  • Comparing several skills side-by-side before choosing one
  • Batch downloading a curated list of skills for a new project
  • Keeping cached skills up to date with a scheduled sync

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

INPUT

User asks: 'Use the security-auditor skill without installing it'

AGENT
  1. 1Search ClawHub for 'security-auditor' to confirm it exists
  2. 2Run cache-skill.sh with the clawhub://security-auditor source URL
  3. 3Verify the skill appears in ~/.openclaw/workspace/remote-skills-cache/
  4. 4Confirm the symlink is active in the skills/ folder
  5. 5Trigger the skill normally as if it were locally installed
OUTPUT

The security-auditor skill runs from the local cache with no network dependency and no permanent installation
