What This Skill Does
Isolated sessions like cron jobs and sub-agents have no access to the main session's conversation history. Using `sessions_history`, an isolated session can pull context from the main chat before executing its task, letting it run on a cheap model (Haiku) while remaining fully aware of prior work.
Running context-aware background tasks in the main session with Sonnet costs around 10x more than delegating to a Haiku-powered isolated session that reads history on demand.
When to use it
- Daily morning report that references overnight conversation work
- End-of-day cron job summarizing what got done and what's pending
- Background sub-agent researching a topic based on earlier discussion
- Webhook handler acting on context from a previously agreed decision
- Periodic email and calendar check-ins informed by current session priorities
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: Send me a morning report at 8 AM every day
- 1Cron job triggers an isolated Haiku session at 8 AM
- 2Session calls sessions_history on the main session key to retrieve the last 50 messages
- 3Session reads yesterday's memory file for persistent decisions and notes
- 4Session fetches weather, checks email, and pulls today's calendar events
- 5Session assembles the report and sends it via the message tool
