Setup & Installation
Or with the ClawHub CLI, for registry-managed skill folders outside a full OpenClaw workspace:
Version History
- Added `jq` as a required dependency for JSON transaction storage and querying. - Updated dependencies section in documentation to include installation instructions for `jq`.
What This Skill Does
A personal finance memory layer that parses bank and credit card statements, stores transactions locally, and answers spending queries. Transactions are kept in ~/.openclaw/workspace/finance/transactions.json and can be added from PDFs, images, or manual entry.
All data stays local, so financial statements never leave the machine.
When to use it
- Parsing a credit card statement PDF to log monthly expenses
- Asking how much was spent on food or transport last month
- Finding the largest purchases in a given date range
- Manually adding a cash transaction to the spending history
- Reviewing category breakdowns before setting a budget
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: Here's my statement PDF — how much did I spend on food this month?
- 1Extracts full PDF text using pypdf across all pages
- 2Parses transactions into structured JSON with date, merchant, amount, and category
- 3Runs add-transactions.sh to append new transactions to the local store
- 4Verifies extracted total matches the statement's reported total
- 5Filters transactions by category 'food' and sums amounts
Spent $312.45 on food this month across 14 transactions
