What This Skill Does
Generates lyrical fables of approximately 1000 words in first-person voice, centered on historical, fictional, or mythological characters. Style draws from authors including Borges, Calvino, Rushdie, and Chiang, combining philosophical themes with sparse, poetic prose and concrete imagery.
A structured approach covering narrative selection, style reference, and a pre-submission checklist produces more consistent literary quality than an open-ended story prompt.
When to use it
- Writing a short story about Ada Lovelace or Marie Curie as a philosophical meditation
- Generating a mythological narrative about Sisyphus or Icarus for a creative writing project
- Creating a dreamy first-person monologue from a fictional character like Sherlock Holmes
- Exploring an abstract theme like time or identity through an invented original character
- Producing a Borges-style fragmented story with multiple variations of the same figure
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: Write a lyrical fable about Sisyphus
- 1Identifies the character as mythological and selects an interior monologue narrative approach
- 2Consults the style guide for core principles: first-person voice, contemporary language, luminous tone
- 3Composes an opening that establishes Sisyphus's voice and the central image of the stone
- 4Develops the narrative through philosophical reflection on repetition, identity, and strange joy in limits
- 5Closes with a resonant image rather than neat resolution, then verifies the story against the checklist
A ~1000-word first-person fable from Sisyphus's perspective, blending sensory detail with philosophical meditation on cycles and freedom
