Version History

v1.0.1Feb 7, 2026 - Version note by skill developer:

- Added a prompt safety notice: event payloads are untrusted, and a safety header is included by default to prevent instruction following. - Provided instructions for disabling the safety header via `wake.add_source_preamble: false` if the source is trusted. - No code or file changes; documentation only.

What This Skill Does

Subscribes to Redis Streams and webhook JSONL sources, waking an OpenClaw agent only when incoming events match configured filter rules. Handles deduplication, retry, and session routing to specific Slack channels or users. No matching events means no agent wake and no token spend.

Agents wake only on matching events, avoiding the token cost of polling loops or always-on agent processes.

When to use it

  • Wake an agent only when a Redis Stream event matches a specific type or field value
  • Route webhook payloads to a Slack channel without continuous polling
  • Deduplicate high-volume event streams before agent delivery
  • Trigger session-based workflows from external system events
  • Monitor multiple event sources with a single background watcher process

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

INPUT

User asks: Watch my Redis Stream for order_placed events and post a summary to #orders in Slack

AGENT
  1. 1Reads watcher config spec from references/CONFIG.md
  2. 2Writes YAML config with Redis Stream source and filter rule for type=order_placed
  3. 3Sets reply_channel: slack and reply_to: channel:CXXXX for the target channel
  4. 4Runs scripts/watcher.py as a background task via nohup or tmux
  5. 5On match, normalizes and deduplicates the event, then delivers it to the resolved session
OUTPUT

A Slack message posted to #orders each time an order_placed event arrives on the stream
