npx clawhub install nest-sdm

What This Skill Does

Controls Google Nest thermostats, doorbells, and cameras through the Smart Device Management REST API. Handles OAuth token management, Fahrenheit/Celsius conversion, and real-time event streaming via GCP Pub/Sub.

Provides scriptable CLI access to Nest devices so they can be integrated into shell scripts and automation pipelines without the Nest mobile app.

When to use it

  • Set thermostat to heat/cool range before arriving home
  • View a doorbell snapshot after a chime event
  • Receive alerts when motion or a person is detected on a camera
  • Switch thermostat to eco mode when leaving for the day
  • Monitor HVAC state changes and temperature setpoints in real time

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

INPUT

User asks: set my thermostat to heat/cool between 68 and 74 degrees

AGENT
  1. 1Load OAuth tokens from ~/.openclaw/workspace/.nest-sdm-tokens.json
  2. 2Call SDM API to list devices and identify the thermostat device ID
  3. 3Convert 68°F and 74°F to Celsius for the API
  4. 4Execute ThermostatTemperatureSetpoint.SetRange with the converted heat and cool values
  5. 5Return updated thermostat status confirming HEATCOOL mode
OUTPUT

Thermostat set to HEATCOOL mode: heat at 68°F (20°C), cool at 74°F (23.3°C)
