Setup & Installation
Or with the ClawHub CLI, for registry-managed skill folders outside a full OpenClaw workspace:
What This Skill Does
Scans a directory recursively, categorizes files by extension and content type, and moves them into a logical folder structure. Detects duplicates by checksum and separates them for manual review. Every action is logged, and a dry-run mode shows a preview before any files move.
The change log and dry-run default mean you can preview and reverse any reorganization without risking permanent data loss.
When to use it
- Cleaning up a cluttered Downloads folder
- Finding duplicate photos scattered across multiple folders
- Sorting a mixed project directory into documents, images, and code
- Organizing backup files into year-based folders
- Auditing a shared drive before migrating to a new location
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: Organize my Downloads folder by file type
- 1Recursively scans the Downloads directory and catalogs all files with sizes, types, and modification dates
- 2Classifies each file into categories: documents, images, code, data, archives, media
- 3Identifies duplicate files by comparing checksums and flags them for review
- 4Proposes a new folder structure and presents a dry-run preview of all planned moves
- 5Moves files into the new structure and writes every action to reorganization_log.txt
Downloads folder reorganized into typed subfolders, duplicates moved to _duplicates, and a full reorganization_log.txt written for rollback reference
