What This Skill Does

Checks the status of Minecraft servers using the Server List Ping protocol. Returns online/offline status, player counts, latency, server version, and the MOTD. No plugins or server-side access required.

Works against any modern Minecraft server using the standard SLP protocol, requiring no plugins, RCON access, or third-party APIs.

When to use it

  • Checking if a private server is online before logging in
  • Monitoring player count on a community server
  • Running automated uptime checks via cron job
  • Verifying server version before a client update
  • Alerting when a hosted server goes offline

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

AGENT
  1. 1Run minecraft-status.py targeting corejourney.org
  2. 2Connect to the server using the Server List Ping protocol
  3. 3Parse the response for status, latency, version, and player data
  4. 4Return formatted results with color-coded ping indicator
OUTPUT
