What This Skill Does
Analyzes search engine results pages to map ranking factors, SERP features, and AI Overview patterns for a given keyword. Identifies why top pages rank, what content formats dominate, and where SERP feature opportunities exist.
Combines SERP composition mapping, intent confirmation, and feature opportunity analysis in a single pass instead of running separate lookups for each signal.
When to use it
- Checking what content format dominates page one before writing
- Finding featured snippet opportunities for a target keyword
- Understanding why a competitor ranks above your page
- Assessing realistic ranking difficulty before investing in content
- Identifying which keywords trigger AI Overviews
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: What does it take to rank for 'best project management tools'?
- 1Fetch the SERP for the keyword and map all visible elements including ads, AI Overview, featured snippet, and organic results
- 2Document top 10 results with content type, word count, and estimated domain authority
- 3Identify ranking patterns and content format distribution across top 5 results
- 4Analyze featured snippet, PAA, and AI Overview presence and what content earns those placements
- 5Generate a difficulty score and content outline based on observed SERP patterns
