What This Skill Does
Searches and retrieves Jewish texts from the Sefaria library, including Tanach, Talmud Bavli and Yerushalmi, Mishnah, Midrash, and classical commentaries. Accepts standard reference formats like "Genesis 1:1", "Berakhot 2a", or "Mishnah Avot 1:1". Returns Hebrew and English text with cross-references and commentary links.
Sefaria's library covers tens of thousands of texts with built-in cross-references, so a single lookup surfaces commentaries, related passages, and translations without navigating multiple sources manually.
When to use it
- Looking up a Torah verse in Hebrew and English side by side
- Finding Rashi, Ramban, or Ibn Ezra commentary on a specific passage
- Checking today's Daf Yomi page and reading its text
- Preparing a dvar Torah with sources and thematic connections
- Searching for texts related to a topic like teshuvah or tzedakah
