What This Skill Does
SpecVibe is a seven-stage framework for building AI-native applications using a spec file as the source of truth. It defines human and AI responsibilities at each stage, from requirements through deployment. Each stage has quality gates that must pass before work continues.
Unlike open-ended AI coding sessions, SpecVibe assigns explicit ownership and review checkpoints at each stage, reducing the risk of large unreviewed AI-generated code blocks reaching production.
When to use it
- Starting a greenfield project with a structured spec before writing any code
- Dividing AI code generation into small, reviewable chunks
- Writing failing tests before implementation begins
- Running automated security scans on AI-generated code before merging
- Generating CI/CD pipeline configs and Dockerfiles at the deployment stage
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: Build me a REST API for a task management app
- 1Interviews user about project goals and generates a draft spec.md from a template
- 2Produces PLAN.md with architecture, data models, and API contracts
- 3Writes a failing test suite covering all API endpoints and user stories
- 4Implements code one task at a time until all tests pass
- 5Generates Dockerfile and GitHub Actions pipeline configuration
A deployable task management API with passing tests, completed security review, and CI/CD configuration
