What This Skill Does

Fetches academic papers from Sci-Hub by DOI and saves PDFs to a local research/papers/ directory with standardized filenames. Accepts DOIs with or without the https://doi.org/ prefix and supports batch fetching of multiple papers at once.

Automates the Sci-Hub navigation and file-saving steps that would otherwise require manual browser interaction for each paper.

When to use it

  • Downloading a paywalled journal article by DOI
  • Batch saving papers from a citation list
  • Fetching papers referenced in a research protocol
  • Archiving a PubMed reading list to disk
  • Building a local PDF library for a literature review

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

  5. 5Saves file to research/papers/paper_10.1038_nature12345.pdf
