What This Skill Does
Analyzes Home Assistant energy and device data to surface savings opportunities and draft automation YAML. Operates read-only, so no device states are changed without user review. Outputs include usage summaries, estimated impact ranges, and a manual rollout checklist.
Proposing changes as reviewable YAML drafts rather than applying them directly removes the risk of unintended device behavior during the optimization process.
When to use it
- Identifying which devices consume the most energy overnight
- Getting a draft YAML automation to shift dishwasher runs to off-peak hours
- Reviewing schedule recommendations before applying them to Home Assistant
- Estimating monthly savings from adjusting thermostat setpoints
- Auditing current automations for energy waste without touching live config
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: 'Here is my Home Assistant token and device list. Where am I wasting energy and what automations should I add?'
- 1Reads energy usage data and device schedules from Home Assistant via the read-only token
- 2Identifies high-consumption devices and compares usage against the provided tariff schedule
- 3Generates a prioritized list of savings opportunities with estimated impact ranges
- 4Drafts automation YAML snippets for each recommendation, annotated with assumptions and constraints
- 5Produces a manual checklist for the user to review and apply each automation safely
