What This Skill Does

GifHorse searches dialogue across a local video library and creates GIFs with timed subtitles. It transcribes videos once using downloaded subtitles, local .srt files, or Whisper AI, then lets you find quotes and export clips instantly. Word substitution lets you modify subtitle text for meme-style remixes.

Unlike manual video editing, GifHorse indexes your entire library upfront so you can find any quote and export a GIF in seconds without opening a video editor.

When to use it

  • Creating a reaction GIF from a specific movie line
  • Making a meme by replacing words in a TV show quote
  • Searching your film library for a half-remembered quote
  • Sending a custom GIF directly via iMessage on macOS
  • Exporting a high-res clip for posting on Twitter/X

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

INPUT

User asks: make a GIF of 'I don't think so' from my movies folder

AGENT
  1. 1Run gifhorse search "I don't think so" to find matching results
  2. 2Run gifhorse preview "I don't think so" 1 to verify timing
  3. 3Run gifhorse create "I don't think so" 1 --padding-after 1.5 to generate the GIF
  4. 4Check exports/ directory for the auto-named output file
OUTPUT

GIF saved to exports/i_dont_think_so.gif with timed subtitles
