Setup & Installation
Or with the ClawHub CLI, for registry-managed skill folders outside a full OpenClaw workspace:
What This Skill Does
Installs and configures near-cli-rs, the Rust-based NEAR Protocol command-line interface. Covers multiple installation methods across Linux, macOS, and Windows. Also handles PATH setup, verification, and first-use account commands.
Supports four installation paths (shell script, npm, Windows MSI, Cargo) so any developer can get set up without switching tools.
When to use it
- Installing NEAR CLI on a new development machine
- Verifying NEAR CLI is correctly installed and on PATH
- Viewing account balance and summary on NEAR mainnet
- Importing an existing NEAR account using a seed phrase
- Deploying or calling functions on a NEAR smart contract

User asks: How do I install NEAR CLI and check my account balance?
- 1Run the shell script installer via curl to install near-cli-rs
- 2Locate the near binary absolute path using `which near` or `whereis near`
- 3Add ~/.cargo/bin to PATH if near is not found
- 4Run `near --version` to confirm installation succeeded
- 5Run `near account view-account-summary <account.near> network-config mainnet now` to show balance
NEAR CLI installed and account summary displayed showing balance and staking info
