Version History
Version 1.0.1 of opensoulmd - No file changes detected in this update. - No functional, documentation, or metadata differences from the previous version.
What This Skill Does
Manages an AI agent's personality by applying SOUL.md files from the OpenSOUL.md registry. The `soul` CLI lets you switch, preview, search, and restore personality profiles. Changes take effect at the start of the next conversation.
Instead of manually editing SOUL.md files, you get a version-controlled registry with one-command switching and automatic backup of your original personality.
When to use it
- Switching an agent to a more concise, technical persona for a coding session
- Trying out a creative writing personality before committing to it
- Restoring the original agent personality after experimenting with a soul
- Searching the registry for top-rated or most-downloaded personality profiles
- Keeping multiple souls cached locally and rotating between them
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: switch to a Socratic tutor personality
- 1Run `soul search socratic --no-interactive --top` to find a matching soul
- 2Identify the label from the results
- 3Run `soul possess <label> --yes` to download and activate it
- 4Confirm activation with `soul status`
Agent confirms the soul is now active and reminds the user the change takes effect next conversation; notes `soul exorcise` is available to revert
