Version History

v0.2.3Feb 26, 2026 - Version note by skill developer:

Rewrite SKILL.md to be clearer and more compelling. Added stronger quickstart and examples, clarified optional flags and workflows.

What This Skill Does

Retrieves FDA label-backed medication information with traceable identifiers (RxCUI, NDC, SPL set_id) and source citations. Pulls from openFDA, DailyMed, and RxNorm. Supports opt-in safety data including recalls, shortages, FAERS adverse event aggregates, and drug interactions.

Unlike general web search, every answer links back to official FDA label sections with stable identifiers you can reproduce and cite.

When to use it

  • Looking up boxed warnings and contraindications for a specific drug
  • Verifying drug identifiers (NDC, RxCUI) for internal documentation
  • Checking FAERS adverse event signals during QA review
  • Searching label text for specific keywords like enzyme inhibitors
  • Building medication summaries for agent pipelines using JSON output

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

INPUT

User asks: What are the contraindications and major drug interactions for Eliquis?

AGENT
  1. 1Resolve drug name to RxCUI and SPL set_id via RxNorm
  2. 2Fetch FDA label from openFDA using resolved identifiers
  3. 3Extract contraindications and drug_interactions sections
  4. 4Optionally run --interactions flag to pull interaction list from RxNav
  5. 5Return structured output with section text, NDC, set_id, and source URLs
OUTPUT

Contraindications section text, drug interaction list, RxCUI/NDC/set_id identifiers, and links to the DailyMed label and openFDA record
