Or with the ClawHub CLI, for registry-managed skill folders outside a full OpenClaw workspace:
Version History
- Added support for calendar-related inquiries with a new requestType: "calendar". - Updated instructions and examples to include handling for calendar and schedule information. - Clarified the process for determining the nature of user prompts.
What This Skill Does
Routes natural language IoT commands through n8n workflows to control Home Assistant devices. Classifies requests as state queries, actions, historical lookups, or calendar checks, then sends the appropriate POST request to a local n8n webhook.
Using n8n as middleware lets you build and modify automation logic visually without changing the skill itself.
When to use it
- Turning lights on or off by voice-style prompt
- Checking if a smart appliance is currently running
- Adjusting thermostat temperature with a plain text request
- Looking up when a door or sensor last triggered
- Querying upcoming calendar events from Home Assistant
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: 'Is the air conditioner running?'
- 1Classify the request type as 'state' since it asks about a current device condition
- 2Format a POST request with chatInput set to the user's question and requestType set to 'state'
- 3Send the curl request to the local n8n webhook at localhost:5678
- 4Receive the workflow response with the current AC state
- 5Return the result to the user
'Yes, the air conditioner is currently running.'
