What This Skill Does

Retrieves the public IP address of the machine running the agent by querying ifconfig.me. Returns both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses when available.

Saves opening a browser or remembering the ifconfig.me URL when working in a terminal-only or automated environment.

When to use it

  • Checking if a VPN is active and routing traffic correctly
  • Verifying outbound IP before adding it to a firewall allowlist
  • Confirming which server is handling requests after a deployment
  • Debugging API rejections caused by IP restrictions
  • Checking server identity in a multi-region setup
