What This Skill Does
Connects to Moodle 4.x via its REST Web Services API. Handles course creation, user enrollment, activity management (quizzes, assignments, forums), grade submission, and roster retrieval. Requires a Moodle Web Service token with appropriate capabilities.
Using the REST API avoids manual admin UI work and enables batch operations that would otherwise require clicking through Moodle's interface one record at a time.
When to use it
- Create a new course and enroll a batch of students
- Remove a student from a course mid-semester
- Add a quiz or assignment to an existing course
- Submit grades for a group of learners
- List all students enrolled in a specific course
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: Create a course called 'Introduction to Python' and enroll three students with IDs 101, 102, 103
- 1Reads Moodle base URL and token from local config file
- 2Calls core_course_create_courses with the course name and category
- 3Retrieves the new course ID from the response
- 4Calls enrol_manual_enrol_users with the course ID and student IDs 101, 102, 103
Course created with ID 42, three students enrolled successfully
