What This Skill Does
Opinionated guide for building dApps on Arbitrum using Stylus (Rust) and/or Solidity. Covers the full development cycle from local devnode setup through contract deployment and React frontend integration with viem and wagmi. Supports hybrid projects where Stylus and Solidity contracts coexist.
Combines Stylus (Rust/WASM) and Solidity workflows in one guide, so you don't need separate resources when mixing both contract types in the same project.
When to use it
- Setting up a local Arbitrum devnode with Docker
- Writing and deploying a Rust Stylus contract to Arbitrum
- Building a React frontend that reads and writes to Arbitrum contracts
- Running Foundry tests against a local Arbitrum chain
- Scaffolding a monorepo with contracts and frontend workspaces
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: deploy a Stylus Rust contract and connect it to a Next.js frontend
- 1Clone nitro-devnode and start the local Arbitrum chain
- 2Scaffold a Stylus contract with cargo stylus new and validate with cargo stylus check
- 3Deploy the contract using cargo stylus deploy with the devnode private key
- 4Export the ABI with cargo stylus export-abi and place it in a shared location
- 5Wire the ABI into the Next.js frontend using viem createPublicClient and readContract
A running local dApp with a deployed Stylus contract and a Next.js frontend reading contract state via viem
