What This Skill Does

Controls Roku devices over local network using the External Control Protocol (ECP). Sends HTTP commands directly to the device with no cloud services or authentication required. Supports navigation, playback, volume, app launching, and text search.

Works entirely over LAN with no API keys or accounts, so it operates instantly and without any external dependencies.

When to use it

  • Launching Netflix or Disney+ by voice command
  • Searching for a specific show without using the remote
  • Pausing playback from another room
  • Turning off the TV at the end of the night
  • Setting up a movie night by launching an app and adjusting volume
