What This Skill Does
Mei Hua Yi Shu is a traditional Chinese divination method that derives hexagrams from the current hour and minute. It calculates upper trigram, lower trigram, and moving line using modular arithmetic on the time values, then interprets the resulting hexagram structure across five analytical perspectives.
Automates the time-based trigram calculation that would otherwise require manual modular arithmetic and hexagram lookup.
When to use it
- Getting a hexagram reading for a specific moment in time
- Consulting I Ching using the Mei Hua Yi Shu method
- Analyzing a situation through upper, lower, and moving line positions
- Requesting a divination based on hour and minute input
- Exploring changing and complementary hexagrams for a reading
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: Give me a Mei Hua Yi Shu reading for 14:37
- 1Run meihua.js with the provided time (14:37)
- 2Calculate upper trigram: 14 % 8 = 6
- 3Calculate lower trigram: 37 % 8 = 5
- 4Calculate moving line: (14 + 37) % 6 = 3
- 5Interpret the base hexagram, mutual hexagram, changing hexagram, opposite hexagram, and reversed hexagram
A structured reading with the five hexagram perspectives and moving line commentary based on the time 14:37
