What This Skill Does
Connects to the incident.io REST API to create, update, escalate, and resolve incidents. Covers severities, statuses, incident types, and posting updates. Uses the v1/v2 API split with Bearer token authentication.
Automates the full incident lifecycle from a single agent instead of switching between the incident.io dashboard and other tools.
When to use it
- Declare a new production outage with correct severity
- Post rolling updates during an active incident
- Escalate an incident by raising its severity level
- List all live incidents and check their current status
- Close a resolved incident and notify the channel
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: 'Declare a critical incident for database connection pool exhaustion'
- 1Fetch severities from GET /v1/severities to get valid severity IDs
- 2Select the highest severity ID matching 'critical'
- 3POST /v2/incidents with name, summary, severity_id, and a unique idempotency_key
- 4Return the incident reference and permalink to the user
Incident INC-1042 created with critical severity, permalink returned
