What This Skill Does

Provides programmatic access to FileWave UEM device inventory and management via REST API. Supports querying, filtering, and bulk-updating devices across macOS, Windows, iOS, Android, ChromeOS, and other platforms. Works with both free Community Edition and commercial FileWave deployments.

Lets IT admins query and act on device inventory across multiple FileWave servers from a single CLI without opening FileWave Central.

When to use it

  • Finding all iOS devices not checked in for 30+ days
  • Bulk-renaming devices before a school term starts
  • Comparing device inventory between lab and production servers
  • Generating a platform breakdown report for fleet analytics
  • Searching for a specific device model across multiple servers

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

INPUT

User asks: Show me all iOS devices that haven't checked in for over 30 days

AGENT
  1. 1Reads the active FileWave server profile from ~/.filewave/config
  2. 2Calls GET /api/inv/api/v1/query_result/{query_id} with the configured inventory query
  3. 3Applies filter: last_seen > 30 days AND platform = iOS
  4. 4Converts column-oriented response to device objects
  5. 5Returns a formatted list with device name, OS version, and last check-in timestamp
OUTPUT

A table of stale iOS devices with names, OS versions, and last-seen dates
