What This Skill Does
A command-line tool that provides region-specific planting schedules based on USDA hardiness zones. It covers what to plant each month, plant details, and allows adding custom varieties to the calendar. Data is stored locally in JSON format.
Zone-aware scheduling replaces generic gardening advice that ignores regional frost dates and climate differences.
When to use it
- Checking what vegetables to plant this week in zone 7a
- Planning a full-year growing schedule for a small farm
- Looking up planting windows for tomatoes before buying seedlings
- Adding local heirloom varieties with custom planting notes
- Exporting a seasonal calendar to share with a garden team
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

- 2Run seasonal_planting.py year --zone 6b --export ~/garden-calendar-2026.md to save the full calendar
- 3Read back the April results and confirm the export path
