Version History
- Added metadata with the "openclaw" emoji to SKILL.md. - Documented SearXNG query syntax and filters, including bang shortcuts and language selection, in a new section. - No changes to tool functionality—documentation update only.
What This Skill Does
Routes web searches through a self-hosted SearXNG instance that aggregates multiple search engines. Supports four category modes (general, news, academic, social) and query syntax modifiers for engine and language selection. Designed for multi-search strategies over single broad queries.
Routing by category ensures the right engines are queried, avoiding noise from using a general search for academic or social content.
When to use it
- Finding recent news on a specific topic with a time anchor
- Pulling Reddit opinions on a product or tool
- Searching academic papers on arXiv or PubMed
- Comparing deployment options across multiple focused queries
- Checking community consensus on a technical decision
