Or with the ClawHub CLI, for registry-managed skill folders outside a full OpenClaw workspace:
What This Skill Does
Manages video downloads as isolated background processes using yt-dlp. Downloads start immediately, run independently of the session, and are saved as MP4 files. Status can be checked or processes killed at any time.
Running downloads as detached background processes means a disconnected session won't cancel an in-progress download.
When to use it
- Downloading a long YouTube video while continuing other work
- Running multiple video downloads concurrently on a remote server
- Grabbing videos on a headless system with no GUI
- Monitoring download progress across several queued URLs
- Stopping a stalled or unwanted download mid-process
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: download this YouTube video and save it to /tmp/videos
- 1Runs scripts/download.sh with the URL and /tmp/videos as the output directory
- 2Receives session ID, PID, and log file path
- 3Periodically runs scripts/check-status.sh with the session ID to report progress
- 4Confirms download completion and MP4 file location
Video saved as MP4 in /tmp/videos; session auto-cleaned
