What This Skill Does
BMad (Breakthrough Method of Agile AI Driven Development) is a 4-phase framework that structures AI-driven software projects into Analysis, Planning, Solutioning, and Implementation. Each phase produces documents (PRD, architecture, stories) that feed into the next. Commands run through Claude Code to automate the full development lifecycle.
Enforces a phased, document-driven process that catches misalignment between intent and implementation before code is written, rather than after.
When to use it
- Breaking a product idea into sprint-ready user stories
- Generating architecture docs before writing a line of code
- Running an implementation readiness gate check before a sprint
- Recovering a partially completed workflow after a Claude Code crash
- Linking generated stories to project management tasks with traceability refs
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: Prepare sprint 1 for my project and generate all stories
- 1Verify BMad is installed by checking for _bmad/ directory
- 2Run sprint planning command via Claude Code with pty:true
- 3Monitor process log every 10-30 seconds for prompts or completion
- 4List generated story files in _bmad-output/epics/*/stories/
- 5Read each story file individually and create corresponding task entries
Sprint status YAML and individual story markdown files in _bmad-output/, each linked to a task with a source file reference
