Clean release: English UI, privacy protection, external drive support, SIGPIPE fix

What This Skill Does

Searches local files and directories on macOS using the Spotlight index via mdfind. Finds text content inside PDFs, Word documents, markdown files, code, and other indexed formats. Only works on macOS with Spotlight enabled.

Uses macOS's pre-built Spotlight index so searches return instantly without scanning files, unlike grep or ripgrep which must read every file.

When to use it

  • Find all PDFs mentioning a specific project name in Downloads
  • Search research folder for papers containing a technical term
  • Locate meeting notes across multiple directories
  • Find code files referencing a function or variable name
  • Search documents in multiple languages without extra setup

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
