What This Skill Does
Standardized workflow for publishing Java and Kotlin libraries to Maven Central using the Central Portal (central.sonatype.com) and the central-publishing-maven-plugin. Covers GPG signing setup, pom.xml configuration, and deployment steps.
Uses the current Central Portal plugin instead of the deprecated OSSRH/Nexus staging workflow, which reduces the number of manual portal steps required.
When to use it
- Publishing a new open-source Java library to Maven Central
- Setting up automated artifact signing in a CI pipeline
- Configuring GPG loopback pinentry for headless build environments
- Migrating from the legacy OSSRH workflow to the modern Central Portal
- Verifying a groupId namespace and deploying a first release
