Security: restrict file access to .md only, block dotfiles
What This Skill Does
A local Node.js server that serves markdown files from any directory you point it at. Includes a browser-based editor with live preview and optional AI chat via OpenClaw gateway. No database, no external dependencies.
Running entirely on localhost with no database means setup is a single command and files stay in whatever directory structure you already use.
When to use it
- Editing a folder of markdown notes in the browser
- Browsing and updating OpenClaw pearls locally
- Running a personal wiki from a git-tracked directory
- Adding AI chat assistance while writing documentation
- Quick local documentation browser for a project
Example Workflow
Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.
User asks: start the editor for my notes folder
- 1Runs node scripts/server.mjs --folder /path/to/notes --port 3333
- 2Server reads the directory and lists all markdown files
- 3User opens http://localhost:3333 in browser
- 4User selects a file, edits it with live preview
- 5Server saves the file back to disk via PUT /api/files/:path
Edited markdown file saved to the local filesystem
