Setup & Installation

openclaw skills install @nagellack5c/lan-media-server

Or with the ClawHub CLI, for registry-managed skill folders outside a full OpenClaw workspace:

npx clawhub install lan-media-server

What This Skill Does

Runs a lightweight HTTP file server on the local network so AI agents can share images, screenshots, and files with users whose chat channels don't support inline media. Managed as a systemd user service. Drop a file in the shared directory and send the user a direct URL.

Avoids base64 embedding or cloud upload by using a local HTTP server that any LAN device can reach with a plain URL.

When to use it

  • Sharing browser screenshots taken during automation tasks
  • Sending generated charts or graphs to a user over CLI
  • Delivering exported documents from a headless workflow
  • Viewing agent-captured images in a webchat interface
  • Passing large files to another device on the same network

Example Workflow

Here's how your AI assistant might use this skill in practice.

INPUT

User asks: can you show me a screenshot of that page?

AGENT
  1. 1Capture screenshot and save it to the shared media directory
  2. 2Confirm the media server is running via systemctl --user status media-server
  3. 3Construct the URL using the server's LAN IP and port 18801
  4. 4Send the user the clickable link with the exact filename
OUTPUT

http://192.168.1.91:18801/screenshot.jpg — user opens it in their browser
